Start here

Paste three things into one ordinary AI chat that accepts text: your rundown (segments in running order with working titles, approximate durations, notes), your team list (student names plus any stated interests or skills), and your constraints (class period length, number of rehearsals, roles that must or must not be filled). Then paste the complete prompt appended below and send.

No account, terminal or API setup is needed. The prompt is plain text; copy it as-is.

Check the output before you use it:

  • Every name in the assignment table, check slots and handoffs appears on the team list you pasted.
  • Each rundown segment appears once, in the same order.
  • Each check slot names a claim type actually present in your rundown text, not a generic list.
  • Missing inputs show as bracketed placeholders such as [student name] or [duration], not guessed values.
  • Any single-owner check on a claim the same student also wrote is flagged.

What it does

It produces one assignment sheet with five sections: A. Assumptions and unknowns, B. Segment assignment table, C. Factual-check slots, D. Transition handoffs, E. Thin spots and open questions. It works only from what you paste, so it will not invent student identities, guests, times or statistics.

It is a planning document only. It does not book, message, schedule or publish anything, and it does not research facts for you.

Prerequisites, permissions and limitations

  • A rundown and a team list are required; without them the sheet is mostly placeholders.
  • The prompt produces a plan, not a verified program. It never states whether a claim is true or false, only who should confirm it and what evidence type would settle it.
  • If your team list is shorter than the roles needed, expect a reduced-role version rather than double-booking.
  • Privacy: the team list contains minors' names. Decide whether that belongs in the chat service you use, and check your school's rules first.
  • Fictional example in the prompt is shape-only; it is not real people or real results.
  • source reviewed; runtime not tested.

FAQ

Do I need to edit the prompt? No. Replace nothing; paste your rundown, team and constraints after it, or before it, in the same message.

What if the AI fills in a name I never gave? That breaks the prompt's own check. Delete the name, and ask it to list the removal under section E.

Complete reusable prompt

You are helping me turn a student newscast rundown I already have into a role and segment assignment sheet. I will paste my rundown below. Work only from what I paste plus the details I give; do not invent names, times, guests, statistics, sources or student identities.

WHAT I WILL PROVIDE

  • The rundown: a list of segments in running order, each with a working title, approximate duration, and any notes about what the segment covers.
  • The team: the list of students available and, if I know them, their stated interests or skills.
  • Constraints: class period length, number of rehearsal sessions, and any roles I say must or must not be filled.

YOUR TASK Produce a single assignment sheet that does four things:

  1. Assign each segment to a primary role set (for example anchor, field reporter, writer, fact-checker, editor, timekeeper, graphics or caption helper) using only students from the list I give. Every student gets at least one duty; no student is double-booked within the same segment unless I say that is allowed.
  2. For each segment, open a factual-check slot: a short block naming the specific claim types that segment is likely to contain (for example a number, a date, a named person, a quoted line, a location) and who on the team is responsible for confirming each type before air.
  3. Flag every place where the rundown is too thin for a check to be possible, so I know what to research or rewrite rather than guess.
  4. Give a running order with transition handoffs, so the person ending a segment and the person starting the next one are both named.

OUTPUT FORMAT Use these headings in this order: A. Assumptions and unknowns B. Segment assignment table (columns: segment number and title, duration, primary student, secondary student, check owner) C. Factual-check slots (one short block per segment, listing claim types and the person who confirms each) D. Transition handoffs (segment N ends with X, segment N+1 begins with Y) E. Thin spots and open questions (what I must supply or verify before this sheet is usable)

UNCERTAINTY AND MISSING INPUT If a required input is absent, write the exact placeholder inside square brackets, such as [student name] or [duration], and list it under section A. Never fill a gap with a plausible-sounding guess. If the team list is shorter than the number of roles, say so plainly and propose a reduced-role version instead of assigning people twice.

CHECKS BEFORE I USE THIS

  • Every name in sections B, C and D must come from the team list I pasted. If any name is not on that list, remove it and note the removal under section E.
  • Every claim type in section C must be tied to something actually present in the rundown text, not to a generic list.
  • Every segment in my rundown must appear exactly once in section B, in the same order.
  • No student may own a check on a claim they also authored without a second confirm owner; flag any single-owner checks.

BOUNDARIES This is a planning document only. Do not book, message, schedule, publish or contact anyone. Do not research facts on my behalf or assert that a claim is true or false; only say who should confirm it and what evidence type would settle it. Do not assume any software feature, account access or automatic workflow. Keep every student-related instruction consistent with the constraints I gave.

FICTIONAL MINI EXAMPLE (for shape only, not real people) Input rundown: Segment 1, "School Garden Opens," 3 min, covers a new plot and a funding figure. Segment 2, "Sports Roundup," 2 min, covers last week's results. Team: Ana, Ben, Chen, Dai. Constraint: 40-minute class, one rehearsal. Illustrative output shape: Section B lists Segment 1 with Ana as anchor, Ben as field reporter, Chen as check owner; Segment 2 with Dai as anchor, Ana supporting. Section C for Segment 1 reads: funding figure, confirm owner Chen; named school official, confirm owner Ben. Section D says Segment 1 ends with Ana, Segment 2 begins with Dai. Section E flags [duration] missing for Segment 2 and notes that the funding figure has no source in the rundown, so it cannot yet be checked.

Now produce the assignment sheet from my rundown.
