Introduction

Super Productivity combines a polished task manager with Pomodoro timers, time tracking, and direct integration into issue trackers. It runs locally on all major platforms, keeping data on your device by default while optionally syncing through cloud storage.

What Super Productivity Does

  • Manages tasks with sub-tasks, tags, notes, and attachments in a Kanban or list view
  • Tracks time automatically per task with idle detection and manual adjustments
  • Integrates with Jira, GitHub Issues, GitLab Issues, Open Project, and Gitea
  • Supports Pomodoro and Flowmodoro techniques with configurable work/break intervals
  • Generates detailed time reports and work-session summaries

Architecture Overview

Built with Angular and Electron, Super Productivity stores all data in IndexedDB locally. Sync is handled through a pluggable storage layer that supports Google Drive, Dropbox, WebDAV, or a local file. The issue-tracker integration polls configured APIs and mirrors remote issues as local tasks.

Self-Hosting & Configuration

  • Download native installers for Windows, macOS, and Linux from GitHub Releases
  • Also available as a Snap, Flatpak, or AUR package
  • Configure issue-tracker credentials in Settings to pull and push task status
  • Optionally enable cloud sync via Google Drive, Dropbox, or a self-hosted WebDAV server
  • All configuration is stored locally; no server-side account is required

Key Features

  • Offline-first: works without internet, syncs when reconnected
  • Automatic idle detection pauses time tracking when you step away
  • Habit tracking with daily and weekly recurring tasks
  • Keyboard-shortcut-driven workflow for power users
  • Cross-platform: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and web

Comparison with Similar Tools

  • Todoist — cloud-first with subscription; Super Productivity is local-first and free
  • TickTick — proprietary; Super Productivity is fully open source
  • Toggl Track — time-tracking only; Super Productivity combines tasks and tracking
  • Clockify — cloud-dependent; Super Productivity works entirely offline
  • Notion — general workspace; Super Productivity focuses specifically on task flow
