Start here

Paste the prompt into an ordinary AI chat that accepts text. Have these ready first: subject, year group/grade, lesson topic, learning objective, and the source content you already teach from. Optional extras: known misconceptions, how many ability bands, accessibility needs, and whether you want an answer key.

Copy and paste: paste the full prompt text, then paste your lesson details in the same message. If the assistant asks for missing items, add them and resend.

Check the output: confirm the header block states topic, year group, objective and timings; each band addresses the same objective; every fact traces back to your pasted source; and no curriculum codes, statistics or standards appear that you did not supply.

source reviewed; runtime not tested

What it does

One lesson, several ability bands. The prompt asks the model to build a Markdown worksheet pack from only the material you paste: a header block, three or however many bands you request (each with a success criterion, warm-up, main task, challenge), differentiation notes, a misconception checklist, an answer key per band, and a teacher review checklist.

If items 1-3 (topic, objective, source content) are missing, it should stop and ask rather than guess. Missing optional items get noted, not invented.

Permissions and limitations

  • Everything must live in the pasted text: no searching, browsing or opening files and accounts.
  • Output is a draft for teacher review only, never a tested or institutionally approved resource.
  • Thin source content should be reported as thin, with suggestions on what to add, not padded with outside facts.
  • Privacy: paste only material you are comfortable putting into the chat; remove student names or identifying details first.
  • The prompt cannot print, share, upload or store anything; those steps stay with you.
  • Key limits: it will not create curriculum standards codes or exam board references, and it is not a substitute for professional judgement about your class.

FAQ

Can I run this without pasting my lesson content? No. The prompt is designed to stop when topic, objective or source content is missing, and to ask for them before producing anything.

What if my source content is very short? The prompt should say so explicitly and suggest what to add, rather than padding the tasks. Treat that message as feedback on your input, not an error.

Complete reusable prompt

You are helping a teacher turn one lesson's content into a differentiated worksheet pack. Work only from the materials the teacher pastes below. Do not search, browse, or open any file or account; everything you need must be in the pasted text.

INPUT TO REQUEST FROM THE USER Ask the user to paste, in one message:

  1. Subject, year group or grade level, and the lesson topic.
  2. Learning objective, written as what students should be able to do by the end.
  3. Source content: the text, notes, diagram description, vocabulary list, or worked examples the teacher already uses.
  4. Any known misconceptions students in this class hold.
  5. Class context: number of ability bands they want (for example support, core, extension), and any accessibility needs (reading level, large print, screen-reader-friendly wording).
  6. Whether an answer key is wanted for each band. If any of items 1-3 are missing, stop and ask for them before producing anything. Items 4-6 are optional; note their absence rather than guessing.

WHAT TO PRODUCE A single Markdown worksheet pack containing: A. Header block: lesson topic, year group, objective, and estimated time per section. B. Three ability bands (or the number the teacher asked for), each with: a one-line success criterion, a short warm-up, a main task built from the teacher's own source content, and one challenge question. All bands must address the same objective; only the scaffolding and demand change. C. Differentiation notes: for each band, state in one sentence what was simplified or extended, and why. D. Misconception checklist: for each misconception the teacher supplied, one quick question that would reveal whether a student still holds it. If none were supplied, mark this section: 'No misconceptions provided - add a teacher-reviewed version.' E. Answer key per band, or a note that no key was requested. F. Teacher review checklist: 3-5 concrete checks tied to this lesson (for example, 'Confirm the core-band main task uses only vocabulary students met before this lesson').

RULES

  • Use only facts and examples present in the pasted source content. Do not add outside historical dates, statistics, formulas, or claims.
  • Do not invent curriculum standards codes or exam board references.
  • If the source content is too thin to support a band, say so explicitly and propose what the teacher should add, instead of padding it out.
  • Keep language plain and age-appropriate to the stated year group; flag any word you judge above that level.
  • This is a draft for teacher review. Do not imply it has been tested in a classroom, validated against a syllabus, or approved by any institution.

WORKED FICTIONAL EXAMPLE (illustration only, not real classroom data) Fictional input: Subject 'Science', Year 7, topic 'Plant needs', objective 'Describe three things a plant needs to grow', source content a two-sentence note naming sunlight, water and air, misconceptions 'plants eat soil'. Illustrative output shape: Band 1 warm-up 'Name one thing a plant needs'; Band 3 challenge 'A plant is kept in a dark cupboard with water and air - predict and explain.' The answer key would carry one-line model answers, and the misconception checklist would ask 'Where do you think a plant's food comes from?'

OUTPUT FORMAT Plain Markdown with the headings A-F above, ready to paste into a document. No code fences.

BOUNDARIES Produce a draft only. Do not claim it will be printed, shared with students, uploaded to a learning platform, or stored anywhere; the teacher decides and performs any such step.
