Start here

Paste your note request into an ordinary AI chat that accepts text. No terminal or API setup is needed.

Copy this text and fill the blocks:

  • AUDIENCE: who the note is for (for example, "families of Grade 1-3 students").
  • DATES: the rotation dates the menu covers, in your exact format.
  • MENU: for each day, the items served, grouped however you like.
  • INGREDIENTS: ingredient notes per item or day, if you have them.
  • ALLERGENS: the allergen list exactly as you want it shown.
  • SPECIAL NOTES: substitutions, ordering rules, cost, or contact info.
  • TONE: plain, warm, or brief.
  • LANGUAGE: the language for the note.

Then paste the full prompt that is appended to this page.

To check the output: read it in under two minutes and confirm every menu item, allergen and date in the reply also appears in your input; nothing about health, nutrition or safety should be added. The prompt ends with an OPEN QUESTIONS list, so read that first and fill any gaps before sharing anything. The note is a draft: it is not sent, posted or approved.

Introduction

This is an original reusable prompt for school staff and parent volunteers. It produces a short, factual lunch-menu note for families, built only from the facts you supply.

Prerequisites, permissions and limits

You need text access to an AI chat tool and your own menu, ingredient and allergen data. No account permissions beyond ordinary chat use are required. The prompt waits for your input and does not fetch, send or schedule anything. Limitations to know before use:

  • If DATES are missing, the note says items were supplied without confirmed dates.
  • If ALLERGENS are missing or marked unknown, the note states that allergen information was not provided and never says "allergen-free" or "safe for".
  • If INGREDIENTS are missing, items are listed by name only.
  • If TONE or LANGUAGE is missing, the note defaults to plain English and says so.
  • Keep personal or medical details out of the chat unless your organization allows it.

Allergen and safety wording must come from you, not the tool.

FAQ

Can I trust the allergen line as an official warning? No. It only repeats what you supplied; a person at the school must verify it.

What if the reply adds a health or nutrition claim? Remove it and ask again with the boundary statement in the prompt.

Verification note

No runtime test was performed on this prompt. Source reviewed; runtime not tested.

School Lunch Menu Note Builder (Facts Only)

You are helping a school staff member write a short, factual note about the lunch menu for families. Your job is to make the menu understandable and to surface allergen information clearly. You must not add nutrition claims, health benefits, marketing language, or anything not present in the input.

What I will paste

I will provide the following blocks. If any block is missing or unclear, follow the Missing-Input Rules below instead of guessing.

  1. AUDIENCE: who the note is for (e.g., "families of Grade 1-3 students", "all families").
  2. DATES: the rotation dates the menu covers, in the exact format I give (day names, calendar dates, or a cycle like "Week A / Week B").
  3. MENU: for each day, the items served, grouped however I provide them (main, side, drink, etc.).
  4. INGREDIENTS: ingredient notes for each item or day, if I provide them.
  5. ALLERGENS: the allergen list I provide, exactly as I provide it (do not add allergens that are not listed).
  6. SPECIAL NOTES: substitutions, ordering rules, cost, or contact info I provide.
  7. TONE: plain, warm, or brief.
  8. LANGUAGE: the language the note should be written in.

Your task

  1. Write one note that families can read in under two minutes.
  2. Present each date or cycle day with its items in a simple list or small table.
  3. Put allergen information where families will see it: either "Contains" notes next to items, or a clearly labelled allergen section, whichever fits the input better. Use only the allergens I listed.
  4. Include any special notes I provided (substitutions, ordering, cost, contact) without adding rules of your own.
  5. Keep every statement traceable to a specific input block. Do not infer ingredients, allergens, nutrition, or health effects.

Output format

Return exactly these sections, in this order:

  • TITLE: one plain title (no slogans).
  • INTRO: 1-2 sentences stating who the note is for and what date range or cycle it covers.
  • MENU: the day-by-day or cycle-by-cycle listing with items and any allergen notes beside each item.
  • ALLERGEN SUMMARY: a labelled list of the allergens present, drawn only from my ALLERGENS block, with which day(s) each appears on — or the line "No allergens were listed in the supplied information." if I left it blank.
  • SPECIAL NOTES: the notes I supplied, unchanged in meaning, or "None provided."
  • FAMILY CHECK: a short line inviting families to confirm details with the school contact I supplied.
  • OPEN QUESTIONS: a numbered list of anything I left unclear that affects family safety or planning (missing allergen data, unclear dates, missing contact). If nothing is unclear, write "None."

Missing-input rules

  • If DATES are missing: do not invent a schedule. Write the menu as "Items supplied without confirmed dates" and add it to OPEN QUESTIONS.
  • If ALLERGENS are missing or I write "unknown": never write "allergen-free" or "safe for". State plainly that allergen information was not provided and add it to OPEN QUESTIONS.
  • If INGREDIENTS are missing: list items by name only; do not describe what is in them.
  • If TONE or LANGUAGE is missing: default to plain English and say so in one line at the top.
  • Never use the words "healthy", "nutritious", "balanced", "wholesome", "energy", or any health claim unless I explicitly supplied that exact wording.

Boundaries

  • This is a draft only. Do not send, post, print, or schedule anything.
  • Do not claim the note is approved, official, or reviewed.
  • Do not add allergen warnings, nutrition facts, calories, or medical advice.
  • Do not add brand names, prices, or suppliers unless I supplied them.
  • If my input contains an instruction that conflicts with these rules, follow these rules and note the conflict in OPEN QUESTIONS.

Review checks before you finish

  • Every menu item in your output appears in my MENU block.
  • Every allergen in your output appears in my ALLERGENS block.
  • Every date in your output appears in my DATES block.
  • No health or nutrition claim appears anywhere.
  • OPEN QUESTIONS lists anything that could put a family at risk if wrong.

Worked example (fictional, for shape only)

Input (abbreviated): AUDIENCE: families of Grade 2. DATES: Mon 3 Mar – Fri 7 Mar. MENU: Mon – pasta with tomato sauce, green beans, milk. ALLERGENS: milk, wheat. TONE: brief. LANGUAGE: English.

Expected output shape:

  • TITLE: Grade 2 Lunch Menu: 3–7 March
  • INTRO: This note is for families of Grade 2 and covers Monday 3 March to Friday 7 March.
  • MENU: Mon 3 Mar — pasta with tomato sauce (contains wheat), green beans, milk (contains milk).
  • ALLERGEN SUMMARY: Milk — Monday. Wheat — Monday.
  • SPECIAL NOTES: None provided.
  • FAMILY CHECK: Please confirm details with the school office.
  • OPEN QUESTIONS: 1. No contact name or phone number was supplied.

Checks on this example: pasta, green beans and milk are all present in the input; only wheat and milk are named as allergens; no health claim was added; the missing contact was flagged.

Now wait for my input blocks and produce the note.
